About

A nascent journalist and political scientist by training, Debra Pangestu is an Indonesian transplant to New York, who, incidentally, was born in the Philippines and travels with a Canadian passport.

At an early age Debra was diagnosed with a serious case of wanderlust, and knows how to say “Sorry, I’m allergic to shellfish” in several languages … although she really isn’t allergic to shellfish. Debra plans to hone in on her propensity for foreign languages and her penchant for travelling as an international correspondent and producer.

A recent graduate from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Debra is a visual storyteller with an eye for detail. She is interested in digital media and all aspects of video production, from reporting and shooting, to editing and producing. Her work has been featured in the NY Daily News, CNNGo, The Jakarta Globe and NBC New York.

When she’s not stealthily snapping away with her Canon T3I, this self-professed epicurean can usually be found running half-marathons, experimenting in her kitchen, or sweating her way to inner peace at the nearest Bikram yoga studio.
